Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus

The Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus is pleased to announce the appointment of Josaphat Contreras as Tenor Vocal Coach for the Chorus. Josaphat will assist the Music Director with vocal training for all parts as the Chorus prepares for concerts. Josaphat will also offer coaching for Saengerfest soloists and individual singers.

Josaphat is a native of Houston, Texas and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal studies from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, under the tutelage of Michael Walsh. During his time at Sam Houston State, he performed the title role in Orpheus in the Underworld, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, and Alfredo in Die Fledermaus.

Since moving to Boston from Texas in the fall of 2018, Josaphat has performed with Odyssey Opera, and is a featured soloist for United Parish in Brookline, Choral Art Society of South Shore, and Cape Cod Chorale. Josaphat Contreras is also a member of Voices21C under the direction of Andre De Quadros. Josaphat serves as the Teaching Fellow for Junior Men’s Ensemble and as the Teaching Fellow for the Young Men’s Ensemble at Boston Children’s Chorus. He directs the Boston Latin Academy A Capella & After-School Choir. You can catch Josaphat on Sunday mornings at United Parish in Brookline where he is the Associate Music Director. When Josaphat is not singing or teaching, he enjoys spending time with his 2 dogs Rufus and Delilah, and his wife Amanda. @Josaphat Contreras
