
Bethany Aiken is a Boston-based music director, pianist, composer, and teaching artist who has served as music director for more than 100 productions, including Jonah and the Whale, Lucky Stiff, Lobster Girl (original orchestrations), and Christmas on the Air (vocal arrangements), all with Greater Boston Stage Company; Firebringer, Beauty and the Beast, and Pippin (GBSC Young Company); Something Rotten!, The SpongeBob Musical, Spring Awakening, and Newsies (Weston Drama Workshop); Murder for Two (Lyric Stage Company); Songs for a New World (Gloucester Stage Company); Head Over Heels (Boston Conservatory at Berklee), Hair (Northeastern University); Peter and the Starcatcher (Hub Theatre Company); Evita (The Company Theatre); Love’s Labour’s Lost (Arlington Friends of the Drama); and four seasons at New Hampshire’s Weathervane Theatre, where she also created original scores for Little Red and the Wolf, Rumpelstiltskin, and The Wizard of Magic Island. Bethany played keyboard for the A.R.T.’s world premiere production of The Black Clown (Norton winner, Outstanding Musical Production) as well as for the Big Apple Circus during its 2019 stay in Boston. She has been a staff collaborative pianist at Boston Conservatory since 2013, maintains a private teaching studio, and holds degrees from Oberlin College and Emerson College.
